On this day in 1945, one of my favorite propeller aircraft, the Hawker Sea Fury, performed its maiden flight out of Langley, Berkshire, fitted with a Centaurus engine. It was the last propeller-driven fighter of the Royal Navy, and its finest. After all those years, this remains with the Bearcat the fatest piston engined aircraft ever.
