- Information
On this day in 1988, the Boeing 747-400 took off for the first time from Everett. Almost 20 years after his big brother, this version brought more recent, quieter and less greedy engines, giving it a greater range. The cabin had been extended, the wing reshaped, and the 'Glass Cockpit' had eliminated the 3rd man out of the crew. This led to significantly increase the profitability of 747, and as a consequence, the -400 version has been the most commercially successful. The last -400 has been delivered in 2009.
