On this day in 1924, when landing in Paramushiru in Japan, three Douglas World Cruiser which left Seattle a month earlier became the first to cross of the Pacific westbound, passing through Alaska and the Aleutian. A fourth plane crashed in Alaska the previous week, but the crew survived. The purpose of this mission was to carry out the first round the world flight. Two of the four planes will reach Seattle at the end of september 1924.
