- Information
On this day in 1927, after 33 h30 of flight, Charles Lindbergh landed the Ryan NYP 'Spirit of St Louis' on the runway at Paris Le Bourget, thus concluding the first solo crossing of the Atlantic and winning at the same time the $25.000 of the Orteig price. Out of the 2t3 weight at take-off, almost half was fuel. In addition to Lindbergh's piloting skills, the crossing was a success thanks to the reliability of the 220hp Wright Whirlwind.
