On this day in 1981, the prototype of the revolutionary Lockheed F-117 was flying for the first time. Its angular shape was intended to scatter enemy radar waves everywhere except back to the radar. They had been designed thanks to computer assistance on the basis of a theory published by a mathematician from ... Russia. The F-117 entered service in 1983, but the US Air Force unveiled their existence only five years later. It has been deployed over of Panama, Iraq and Serbia.
